Visitors to District Facilities** The Board encourages parents and other district citizens to visit the schools and classrooms to observe the work of students, teachers and other employees. Such visitations should be encouraged, arranged and permitted within considerations of the requirements of the educational program, the orderly administration of the school, school grounds and classrooms and the safety and welfare of students.

Public Solicitation in District Facilities Students and staff are to be protected from intrusions by announcements, posters, bulletins and communications of any kind from individuals and organizations not directly connected with the schools. Community Involvement in Decision Making The Board endorses the concept that community participation in school affairs is essential if the school system and the community are to maintain mutual confidence and respect and work together to improve the quality of education for students.

Public Charter Schools I. Definitions A. Applicant means any person or group that develops and submits a written proposal for a public charter school to the district. B. Public charter school means an elementary or secondary school offering a comprehensive instructional program operating under a written agreement entered into between the district and an applicant. C. Remote and necessary school district means a school district that offers kindergarten through grade 12

Public Complaint Procedure Complaints, questions and concerns about issues and events over which the District has control shall be processed thoroughly and in a timely manner. Certain categories of complaints must be processed under other District policies and administrative regulations as a result of federal or state law and/or confidentiality issues

Public Complaints The district will develop and implement effective means of resolving complaints voiced by employees, students, parents of a student who attends school in the district or persons who reside in the district and will use recognized channels of communication.

Materials Distribution** Requests by individuals or groups to distribute pamphlets, booklets, flyers, brochures and other similar materials to students for classroom use or to take home shall be submitted to the school administration.
