Sisters School District school nurses and the mental health team have a commitment to work with families, schools, and the community to promote optimal health and educational success of all students.
Nursing
Our School nurses help students be healthy, safe, and ready to learn. School nurses are available at each of our school buildings. The school nurse is a specialty of nursing practice that collaborates with your family, your providers, and our community partners to optimize our student’s development and education.
Our school nurse supports students with special health care needs; train school stafff on individual student care and school-wide health protocols; and work with school teams to promote wellness for school communities.

Deschutes County Public Health
Deschutes County Health Services has a primary responsibility to help address the basic health and wellness of Deschutes County residents. The department offers services at more than 40 locations in Deschutes County including public schools; health clinics in Bend, La Pine, Redmond and Sisters; five school-based health clinics; agencies such as the KIDS Center and the State of Oregon Department of Human Services; area hospitals; care facilities and homes.
Oregon Department of Education
The Oregon Department of Education (ODE) oversees the education of over 560,000 students in Oregon’s public K-12 education system. ODE encompasses early learning, public preschool programs, the state School for the Deaf, regional programs for children with disabilities, and education programs in Oregon youth corrections facilities. While ODE isn’t in the classroom directly providing services, the agency (along with the State Board) - focuses on helping districts achieve both local and statewide goals and priorities through strategies.
Oregon Health Authority
The Oregon Health Authority is at the forefront of lowering and containing costs, improving quality and increasing access to health care in order to improve the lifelong health of Oregonians. OHA is overseen by the nine-member citizen Oregon Health Policy Board working towards comprehensive health reform in our state.
